Dependence on God Every Millisecond

"Do not delight, when in a day, you have not committed the sin of adultery IF... during that same day you have walked in independence from God.

Because, in the sight of God and His holy angels, both crimes are just as heinous and filthy".

-Paul Washer

He always has a way to bring us back to reality, doesn't he Lin? Paul Washer is a "no holds back" preacher who favors only God and His Gospel. I thank God every day that He is gracious enough to give us men to preach us the truth of God!

His teaching has been a blessing to me. I was convicted of my sin of independence when I heard him say this in a message.

I have only begun to listen to Paul Washer! This week I watched as he delivered his message to the
youth in Montgomery, AL in 2002. What an incredible Man of God!!! I am like a sponge soaking up a breaking dam!It has been so very, very long since I have heard a sermon delivered with this fire and brimstone...I feel sorry for the people sitting in these buildings called churches who are listening to the watered down version of the gospel of a different Jesus!!! We need to rise up and go out and tell the world about Jesus! We need to forget about fun and games! We need to forget about how many 'socials' we can have at church this month! Dear Lord in Heaven help us!!!

As I got deeply into the WORD this past year, the sins of Idolatry and Adultery really began to merge.

I say this in the sense that we as the "bride" commit adultery when we worship idols.

Ez, What are some examples of idol worship in our time?

Well, for me it was my business. My money, my success....

I think it can be anything that we place at a higher priority than God. There seem to be quite a few these days that appear to love the preacher more than Jesus....How else do we explain a willingness to overlook most anything that he does...I understand there are still folks willing to fight to the death ofr Haggard......

Just how many things can one think of that they would rather do than read the WORD every day?

Idol worship is a whole lot easier to do than it appears. You don't have to carve a gold calf to commit the sin...You don't have to put up an ashera pole. What I find particularly concerning is the reference to "High places" that normally did not get torn down. They sound a lot like modern day churches...scary stuff. JMO

Precisly.

"Churchianity" can become an idol. Our fancy buildings! Even a preacher. As a matter of fact, I heard Washer tell a group in a sermon that he had to spend some time in a sermon tearing down some idols that some Christians had made of Jonathon Edwards, Calvin, etc. Why talk of what men say all the time when we can read what God says?

That is what pains me so when I hear Dr. R...said!

I just want to scream the WORD. John 1! What does he say? We deal with generations of "the pastor said"....Just refuse to get it straight from the WORD. Cool, clear and not a speck of mud anywhere. The grass tastes good too. :)

"Churchianity" sounds like the affliction I am recovering from. I used to think I had to be in the church every time the doors opened to be righteous...Dressed well at the same time.

Then I realized that the only thing that mattered was focus on the Christ where ever I happen to be, regardless of how I am dressed.

Am I sitting there Sunday morning because all good christians do it or because I want to see him, I want to show him I love him and I want to be around other people that think as I do.
