Very sad. And sadder still is the fact that this seems an appropriate metaphor for what has happened to Evangelicalism in America.

Your recent post about junk food being served in churches in one of the many reasons that Evangelicalism has fallen on tough times.

God save us.

Hey Lindon,

I wandered over here from Wade's blog, and after seeing this last post, I thought, "Maybe it's not such a sad thing after all, that God's people (not to mention the watching world) should be disabused of the baffling notion that the church's sense of itself is somehow wrapped up in a building and what goes on there for a couple of hours on Sunday."

But then again, maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon...

Not at all. The Mosque is just a sign of the times.

The 'true' eclessia is alive and well. It is just not represented by brick and morter.

You are most welcome here.

Lin - Not brick and mortar? What are you saying? Churches should be built from clapboard?

Thanks for the insightful application. We often forget what the true Church is.

visit Istanbul's "Hagia Sophia", mother Church for all eastern Christians. Church turned Mosque and now Mosque/museum.
