The Wrong Message

If you are using the Message Bible to study God's Word my advice to you is: Don't.

Get a real Bible.

There are many things wrong with the Message Bible but one that I recently read about is galling. Consider this: This counterfeit Message Bible contains the word Lord (or Lord's) 23 times. How big is this change? Just for comparison, the King James contains 632 verses with the word, Lord.

The following terms are in the Message Bible zero, that is 0, times:
Christ Jesus, my Lord
Lord Jesus Christ
Lord Jesus
Christ Jesus, our Lord
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ our Lord
Jesus Christ is Lord!

There is nothing more fundamental to salvation than the Lordship of Jesus Christ. (Romans 10) The Lord Jesus Christ is inseparable from His absolute truth. It is through believing and obeying the truth that Jesus Christ is truly our Lord.

But many instead are following a 'modelship' of Jesus which focuses more on works than the fact that Jesus was God. They say they believe but they are allowing the faith and Lordship of Jesus Christ to crumble away.

The purity of the Word is what matters, not how relevant that Word it is to the culture. So many things are being conformed to the image of man and not the truth and purposes of the Lord God.

Jude 1:3-4

3Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. 4For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
